Lollywood Through the Ages


The Citizens Archive of Pakistan has preserved a rare collection of film posters and film magazines from Lollywood. Films, images, articles and advertisements of films are digitized which have been collected from libraries and private collectors. Movie posters have been used as promotional tools since the earliest days of the cinema and duly recognized as true works of art. Our Archive has 60 rare posters in the print form and digitized. A number of these posters were exhibited for the public in the Shanaakht festival of November 2009. Newspapers such as Jang, Dawn, Morning News, Pakistan Recorder and The Pakistan Times have been scanned from early 1950s to 1972. The collection is constantly growing and we are hoping to add rare records of Lollywood hits and original film reels to this archive.
